SUAKA invites you to participate in World Refugee Day 2016 celebrations in Jakarta, Indonesia. World Refugee Day is held annually on 20th June.
The theme of United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) for World Refugee Day 2016 is #WithRefugees. The theme for our event in Jakarta is a Festival of Culture.
Asylum Seekers and Refugee communities from Jakarta and surrounding areas will participate in this event, presenting performing arts, music, painting, storytelling, photography exhibitions and cultural food from their communities.
SUAKA will also officially launch our Self Help Kits which assist asylum seekers to understand and prepare for the UNHCR process of Refugee Status Determination.
Bringing communities together for World Refugee Day will allow members of the Indonesian public to learn more from our asylum seeker and refugee brothers and sisters, to understand what forces people to leave their country in search of safety, and why asylum seekers come to Indonesia.
