Public Transportation in Jakarta during COVID-19

Refugee communities living in the area where PSBB/Large Scale Social Restriction is enacted should follow the direction from the authorities when using public transportation. However, it is strongly advised to stay inside your home/accommodation. The goal of Stay At Home is to break the chain of transmission of COVID-19. You never know who is sick, you may get infected and endangered people in your community. Do not go outside if you are feeling sick or unwell.

There are a lot of changes in the policy when using transportation in Jakarta, including the public transportation. Below is the information for three main public transportation, MRT, Transjakarta and KRL CommuterLine.

The main policy of public transport in Jakarta is to wear a mask. The operator usually provides hand sanitizer for public use, you can use it accordingly, before and after getting on the vehicle. Keep your distance with other passengers during queueing and inside the vehicle.

Transjakarta or busway obliged all the passengers to wear a mask, you are not allowed to get on the station or bus if not wearing a mask. Transjakarta also enacted the policy to limit the passenger on each bus, please follow the direction from the officer about the seating arrangements.

MRT Jakarta also obliged all the passengers to wear a mask, you are not allowed to get on the station or train if not wearing a mask. Transjakarta also enacted the policy to limit the passenger on each train, don’t sit on the seat that has the marking of X. You should also keep your distance with another passenger if you stand on the train.

KRL Commuterline also obliged all the passengers to wear a mask, you are not allowed to get on the station or train if not wearing a mask.
